WHAT IS SUNGJA-DO?

Sungja-Do is the Korean translation of "Way of the Savior (Jesus)."

With Sungja-Do we win all conflicts on the street or in school or at work, whether they be physical or mental.

Through training, we learn to control our minds and body, so that we do not act wildly or irrationally.

WHAT SUNGJA-DO IS NOT!

Sungja-Do is not Jeet Kune Do (JKD)!

Over the last 47 years that, George I. Petrotta, has studied the arts, he has formulated a system that uses the most effective techniques and concepts of all the arts he has studied and forges them into one art.

The outcome of this combination is a system of street self-defense that is easy to learn and most importantly, easy to use by all.

Sungja-Do is a combination of martial arts that have been studied by George I. Petrotta, 8th Degree, Founder of Sungja-Do and a Christian outlook on how to live for Jesus.

"Masada was a mountaintop fortress built by Herod. In 70 a.d., when Herod destroyed the temple and declared war on the Jews, a group of Jewish soldiers brought their families to Masada and captured it. They lived on this craggy mountain for three years while Romans built a siege ramp. When it was evident that the Romans would break in and enslave them all, the warriors agreed to kill their families and themselvs rather than have their children raised as Roman slaves and their wives defiled. The night before the Romans attacked, they killed their families and each other honorably. The Romans found only one elderly woman and child alive. The Jews still celebrate the patriotism and courage of these warriors. It is like their Alamo.

While we were there, Isaac and I performed a poomse in the place where so many brave warriors died. I let him chose, and he wanted to do Taegeuk E Jang."
