YOUR DEFENSIVE CIRCLE
Your defensive circle is invisible to the eye and untouchable by hand or foot. It's like a plastic bubble that surrounds you completely--from head to toe. Compare it to the "SHIELDS" for the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE in the STAR TREK movies. Your defensive circle is made up of two parts:
The unity of the two circles makes a barrier that helps protect you from physical harm.
The PHYSICAL CIRCLE is the area that you will take defensive action by contact with your opponent.
The MENTAL CIRCLE is defensive awareness.
You will first learn how to strike, block and kick. You must
understand how each is executed--then you will be in a better position to
defend against them.
Concentration of the mind and power of the body come from relaxation of the mind and body.
Blending of the PHYSICAL CIRCLE and MENTAL CIRCLE create the DEFENSIVE CIRCLE.
The AVENUES of APPROACH are the EIGHT DIRECTIONS OF ATTACK
You must understand what DIRECTION of FORCE is. "It is the direction an object or form of power is moving."
To be able to defend, you must know the direction that the attack is coming from. It is:
SUNGJA-DO is a combination of hard and soft techniques; This is in balance with the theories of the DEFENSIVE CIRCLE.
Everything in nature lives in harmony with everything else because of opposites.
